♠Munsan Happiness Center to Be Opened on May 3♠
Munsan Happiness Center, the first-of-its-kind center in Paju City, was designed to provide customized spaces for users. As a venue for the handicapped, seniors, women, young adults and the general public, the Center will improve the level of welfare and culture in the city.
Located at 1329 Seonyu-ri, Musan-eup, the Center was built as a seven-story building with one basement floor and six floors above ground. The total budget of the construction project was about KRW 53.6 billion (including the cost of land acquisition). The groundbreaking ceremony was held on July 1, 2009, and construction was completed on April 2, 2011. The Center has the Eup-office, a drop-in center for the handicapped and a city childcare center on the 1st floor, while a welfare center for seniors and a theater (436 seats) are operated on the 2nd floor. A resident center is located on the 3rd floor, a welfare center for women on the 4th floor, a culture center for young adults on the 5th floor, and various welfare facilities including a cafeteria and a fitness club are located on the 6th floor.
The Center has acquired the best eco-friendly building level to keep up with today’s trend of low-carbon green growth. The building is equipped with a geothermal power system that will generate 10% of the building’s total energy needs, as well as photovoltaic and solar power systems. The building’s energy efficiency has also been maximized by installing 100% LED lamps, giving it the top energy efficiency level.
Combining the existing functions of the Eup-office with various welfare functions, the Center is expected to serve residents of North Paju by offering a cultural infrastructure, and will contribute to improving quality of life of citizens.
The opening ceremony for the Center will be held at 11:00 AM on May 3rd, 2011. The official opening ceremony will follow various congratulatory events, including performances of Munsan-eup Pungmuldan and a fusion Korean traditional music trio.
