- Dulegil, the Climbing Course of Simhaksan (Mt.), which has earned a reputation as a climbers’ paradise, provides the ideal venue for every climber -

Dulegil was built at Simhaksan, Paju’s paradise for climbers. Opened to the public on November 24th, 2009, Dulegil is 6.8km long, and connects Yakcheonsa (Temple) and SBS Jeonwon Village and Water Reservoirs. Dulegil is not a straight path to the mountain top, but a circular path of the ridge of the mountain.

Dulegil gives climbers a chance to travel the ridge of Simhaksan, so climbers can fully enjoy an exciting climb. Not excessively steep, the path gives the pleasure of climbing an ideal course, combining uprises and downhills. Walking along the path, climbers will get warmed up.

As there is a deck with a great view of Han River, climbers can stop and enjoy a beautiful sunset from Simhaksan. The wooden stairways prevent slipping, and the numerous benches provide plentiful rest areas. As the path is narrow, only one or two climbers can pass, and enjoy a solitary environment for contemplation. It takes two and a half hours for adults to complete the course.

Paju Mayor Ryoo Hwa-Sun commented, “As Dulegil of Simhaksan has no steep courses, everyone can enjoy a climb. Even the frail, seniors and children can walk along the path. The path gives us the pleasure of being in nature every season. In summer, we can take a rest under the trees, and walk the snow-covered road in winter. In autumn, we can walk on the fallen leaves.”

Simhaksan is a popular mountain in Paju, which has been loved by Paju natives and residents of neighboring areas. Dulegil provides a number of scenic attractions, including the Migratory Bird Spot of Hangang (River), Odusan Unification Observatory, and Paju Book City. As Simhaksan is located near Jayuro, visitors can also easily visit Heyri, English village, Matgoeul and Imjingak in the same day.

With diverse cultural events such as the Year-End Sunset Party, Simhaksan Dogoji Flower Village Festival and Concert at the Top of Simhaksan being held at Dulegil, it is expected that Dulegil will become popular.
